SSA
VISION
TO SUPPORT 4 YR PLAN
The
swim boards objectives are to improve the quality of swimmers .The
participation level and
numbers must increase annually.
This
could be achieved by exposing swimmers across the country to THE
SPORT SCIENCES available to swimmers
Information
booklets brochures contact details and what ever is required to put them
in touch with the right people must be made available either
on request or on website.
Regular
Talent ID should be taking place and
support structure for both athlete and coach should be entrenched
Swimming
Camps with a variety of training programs should be made available
TIME
FRAME IS IMPORTANT
Assimilated
programs should be run i.e. swimmers preparing for Junior World Games or
Commonwealth games
should be prepared for the conditions they could be exposed to.
Sleepless
nights due to disturbed sleep patterns
Noisy
areas etc
Lost
of Equipment or kit bags
Blooding
of age group swimmers should be from the 3 age group levels and targeted
for the
Chico
Piscine and
Mustapha Lafoui competitions.
Mare
Nostrum and PAN PACS should serve as the
preparation meet for any of the bigger competition but at this level the
introduction of new swimmers is important to expose them to high
international competition.
The
age group swimmers possibly making finals at senior nationals should be
targeted
A
THREE TIER SELECTION
to be reinstated
First
2 qualifiers of published criteria
Affirmative
selection
|
LEVEL
1
ENTRANCE
LEVEL The
participation level must increase at this level from all
communities as this is the feeder system but there is a danger of
swimmers stagnating here Encouragement of selection to a target
squad has been a big incentive for a lot of swimmers
Coaches
should encourage no more than 2 years at this level
ZONE
6 competitions to be investigated
PROVINCIAL
PROGRAMS IMPORTANT to
this level regular galas target team selection provincially,
exposure to recovery programs and other sport sciences of
importance
|
LEVEL
2
PROGRESSION
LEVEL:
Stronger swimmers should aim for this level in their first year for
a national competition or their second year having progressed from
level 1.
Times
must be monitored so that this does not become a grey area for
swimmers.
The
stronger age grouper should be able to qualify to this level
directly and the others progress from level 1 these two levels will
serve as the feeder system for prestige age group
Zone
6 competition immanent
|
LEVEL
3
PRESTIGE
AGE GROUP:
High performance age group in preparation for international
participation
Qualifying
times should be a bit steeper to achieve as this will be your
feeder system towards Junior and Senior nationals and the future of
SSA Three camps per year for this level is required to keep them on
the edge Clubs and Provinces should also investigate arranging own
tours to British Age, Darmstadt, Egypt and Malta etc
A
Swimming Academy would
be our salvation and this might encourage swimmers to remain in the
country more international talent to be brought to South Africa
if it can work for Athletics why not swimming although our result
are better.
