Lists
Ten
(10) minutes before the start of each gala, the lists of all
competing teams must be handed in to the Official collating the
points for the day. The list shall give Names, Sex and Date of Birth
of every swimmer, and should be in their respective age groups and
the events to be swum at the gala.
If, as so often happens, a swimmer does not arrive and his/her
place is to be taken by a substitute, the Recording Official must be
provided with the details in writing during the course of the gala.
The names of any Out-of-Age swimmers competing in the gala must be
highlighted. This
includes both under and overage swimmers. All swimmers must have
their age written on upper right arm.

A
and B Sections
Where
there are a large number of participating clubs, the league will be
split into two sections.
An “A”
league and a “B” league. A club may have only one team in each
section. In the “B”
league preference will be given to clubs who do not have a team in
the “A’ league.
Promotion
and Relegation
At
the beginning of each season participation by Clubs in the “A”
and “B” Sections will be subject to promotion and relegation
considerations depending on the performance of those Clubs during the
previous season.
Where possible, Clubs desirous of swimming in either the A or B
Sections will be accommodated, but in this respect, the Relay League
Sub-Committee will make the final decision regarding allocations.
Any Club competing for the first time will automatically be
entered in the B Section.
Number
of participating Clubs in each Section
Ideally,
each section should consist of 10 Clubs.
Should there be more than 20 teams wishing to participate,
each section may be increased to a maximum of 12 teams.
Allocation
of Points
The
allocation of points for the places in each Section will obviously
depend on the number of teams entered. The team finishing 1st
will receive 14 points, 2nd will receive 12 points, 3rd
will receive 10 points, thereafter the teams will receive 1 point
less for each subsequent placing, down to 1 point for the 12th
placed team.
“Out-of-Age”
Swimmers
A
Club, who does not have a sufficient number of swimmers in a
particular age group, may include swimmers of a lower age group to enable
the Club to enter a team in an event.
Swimmers however may only compete in one age group on the day.
Should a Club include in its team a swimmer of an older age group to
enable the other members a swim, that team will not be eligible to
score points and must be self-disqualified. The
Referees and Place Judges must be made aware of the presence of an
“out-of-Age” competitor in any particular race before the event
starts. A RED cloth or towel must be placed over
the lane block indicator. The club concerned must provide the cloth
or towel.
The Clubs must ensure that the referee is aware of the self
disqualification.
Infringements
of Age Group Rules
Should a
club not display a RED cloth, 50 Points will be deducted from the
clubs total points scored. Where it has come to the notice of the
Juvenile Relay League Sub-Committee that there has been a blatant
infringement of the rules and a deliberate attempt on the part of a
CLUB’S TEAM OFFICIAL or COACH to hide the true facts, a fine of
R200.00 will be imposed and no points will be awarded to the
offending club for that leg of the Relay League.
Objections
Objections
concerning rule infringements must be lodged in writing to the
referee before the end of the gala.
